Bristol City Women can announce the permanent signing of Signe Markvardsen from A-Liga champions HB Køge.

The Danish full-back has put pen to paper on a three year contract, tying her to the Robins until the summer of 2029.

The 23-year-old operates primarily as a left-back, making 24 league appearances in HB Køge’s league-winning 2025/26 season.

In 2022, Markvardsen left HB Køge Women to pursue college soccer, joining the South Florida Bulls. She started all 35 matches, scoring four goals, and recording one assist. In her debut season, she was named in the AAC All-Conference Rookie Team.

The Dane returned home to HB Køge Women at the end of 2023. In her time in Denmark, she made appearances in both the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup and Women’s Champions League.

Upon signing for City she said: “It’s been a long time coming, I’m really happy to be here. It’s a really competitive league, and with the new investments and really nice facilities, I just feel like everything is nice and this is the best place for me.”

Head Coach Charlotte Healy is pleased with the addition too, she said: “We’re all delighted to get Signe through the door. She is a young left footed fullback who has fantastic experience for her age both internationally and domestically.

“Her experiences with her national team and in the Champions League will add real value to our squad. She has settled in fantastically well and I’m looking forward to the fans being able to watch her this season.”
