Bristol City Women can confirm that defender Mari Ward has left the club following the expiration of her contract to join Barclays Women’s Super League side, Liverpool.
Ward progressed through City’s youth academy before making her senior debut in 2023 at just 17 years old. The full-back then signed her first professional contract on her 18th birthday in January 2024.
Since transitioning into the first-team squad, Ward has made over 80 appearances across all competitions. During her time at City, Ward also represented the Young Lionesses at both Under-20 and Under-23 levels.
Reflecting on her City journey, Ward said: "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here and I am really grateful for the opportunity to have developed my career. I want to thank the staff, my teammates, and the fans for all their support during my time as a Robin."
City boss Charlotte Healy said: “We’re really proud of Mari’s development during her time at Bristol City Women. She has made over 80 appearances for our first team since coming through our Academy and we are really proud to see her take the next step of her career in signing for a WSL club like Liverpool. We wish her all the best and will always continue to follow her journey.”
Bristol City Women FC thanks Mari for her contributions and dedication during her time with the club and wishes her the best for the future.
