Bristol City Women are delighted to announce that Sophie Ingle has signed a two-year contract extension, tying her to the club until the summer of 2028.

The Wales international has been a pivotal presence in the midfield since returning to City last summer and was ever present in the 2025/26 campaign.

Ingle started her career at Cardiff before transferring to Chelsea, featuring 26 times before joining City in January 2014.

She made the switch to Liverpool in 2016 before returning to The Blues in the summer of 2018 where she went on to win five Barclays Women’s Super League titles and 11 major trophies with Chelsea.

The 34-year-old returned to City last summer and has now put pen to paper for a further two years in the West Country.

Upon signing her new contract she said: “I’m really excited to be staying at this amazing football club, I’ve felt really settled since coming back and the infrastructure of this club is going in the right direction and so I’m looking forward to the future."

Head Coach Charlotte Healy added: “We’re really pleased that Sophie has committed her future to Bristol City Women.

“Sophie was so important for us last season both on and off the pitch. Her calmness and her leadership added so much value to our group and she had a brilliant season personally on the pitch too. She’s the perfect role model for our young players to learn from.

“Her quality and experience speak for themselves - she’s a fantastic player, but also an incredible human so I’m delighted that she’s extended her stay.”
