Bristol City Women are delighted to announce that Fran Bentley has signed a new three-year contract, committing her future to the Robins.

Bentley first arrived in BS3 on loan during the 2021/22 season, keeping a then club record of 10 clean sheets while collecting the club's Young Player of the Year award in her debut season.

Following a hugely successful season, the young goalkeeper then signed a permanent deal at Bristol City.

The 25-year-old played a significant role in the Robins’ 2023/24 title-winning season, captaining the side, playing every league game, and earning the Championship Golden Glove and the club’s Players’ Player of the Year award.

Upon signing her new deal, Bentley said: “I’m delighted to sign my new contract, I’m really looking forward to the season ahead and I can’t wait to see all the fans.

“Bristol City is home away from home for me now. I love playing at Ashton Gate and it’s an amazing environment here. It's a great standard in training and I love the competition within the goalkeeping department.”

Head Coach Charlotte Healy added: “We’re all really delighted that Fran has committed her future to Bristol City Women. She’s a fantastic goalkeeper who brings real quality, experience and leadership to the squad. She works incredibly hard with Matt to continually improve her game and I think her performances last year showed that.

She’s an integral part of what we do here so I’m really pleased that she’s committed her future to the club.”
