Syme and Powell pen new deals.

Ella Powell and Emily Syme have signed new two-year deals at Bristol City Women.

Syme will remain in BS3 in her second spell at the club, having progressed through the club’s academy system.

The 26-year-old rejoined City in 2022 after spells at Yeovil Town, Aston Villa, and Sheffield United.

Last season, she was voted the 2025/26 Players’ Player of the Year and was also named in the Barclays Women’s Super League 2 Team of the Season.

On signing her new deal, she said: “Bristol City really is home for me, and I’m really happy that I’m going to be staying here for a further two years.

“We’re all really ambitious with what we want to achieve this season, and I can’t wait to get back out at Ashton Gate.”

Head Coach Charlotte Healy said: “Emily really epitomises everything this club is about, so to have her sign a new deal is fantastic for our club and our fans.

“She is a joy to have in the building; she’s a true professional that drives standards each day. She developed her game and her leadership skills so much last season and deserved all the plaudits she got as one of the best players in the league. I truly believe Em can kick on again this season, so I’m excited to see what the season has in store for her.

“We know how many big clubs wanted Emily over the summer, so for her to commit her future to our project is fantastic news for all of us.”

As for Ella Powell, the Welsh international has been at City since 2021 and was a big part of the Championship-winning season in 2022/23, making 21 appearances.

Despite having spent time on the sidelines through injury, Powell made 14 league appearances in last season's WSL2 campaign.

Upon extending her stay, she said: “I love playing for Bristol City and I’m really pleased that I’ll be here for another two years.”

Healy added: “I’m delighted Ella has signed a new contract with Bristol City. I know how much she loves the club, and I know how much the fans love Ella. She worked so hard last season to return from injury, and when she did, I felt we really saw the best of her.

“She’s worked hard to develop her game and also how she leads as a senior player, and I’m delighted she’s committed to our project here. Ella knows Bristol City inside out, and I know how passionate she is to see this club be successful, so it was important to us all to have her back in our changing room!”
