Bristol City Women secured an emphatic 4-2 win over Wolves at Ashton Gate.

The visitors had found an opener inside just seven minutes through Amber Hughes but goals from Katie Robinson, Brooke Aspin, Rio Hardy and Marine Dafeur saw City cruise to all three points.

Charlotte Healy had made four changes to the side that faced Charlton midweek in the Subway Players Cup.

City’s third win of the season lifts them into fourth in the Barclays WSL2.

Healy’s side had found themselves one nil down inside the opening ten minutes at Ashton Gate, failing to clear a looping delivery which Amber Hughes was able to prod home from close range.

The Robins nearly responded immediately as Lotta Lindström burst through clear on goal before she was brought down by Wolves’ last man, who only saw yellow for the collision.

City did find a way back though and it was Katie Robinson who struck first, smashing an effort into the top right corner well beyond Emily Orman.

With less than five minutes remaining of the first-half Dafeur’s floated ball was met by Gemma Lawley who squared to Aspin before the 21-year-old poked in from close range.

Moments later, City added to their advantage as Hardy powered an effort beyond Omran inside the Wolves box to see the Robins 3-1 up at the interval.

Healy’s side started the second-half as they meant to go on and Dafeur turned from provider to goalscorer in the 54th minute, firing into the top left corner to net her first goal for the club.

Malaika Meena was next to go closest for The Robins, unleashing a powerful strike from range which rattled the bar despite having Orman beat.

Introductions of Maria Farrugia and Sophie Ingle allowed City to continue to pile on the pressure and it looked as though Esther Morgan was to add the 5th but Orman was this time, equal to the long range effort.

Amber Hughes added hers and Wolves’ second on a quick counter in the 78th minute but introductions of Emma Bissell and Oliwia Woś helped see City to a 4-2 win at Ashton Gate.

The result lifts Charlotte Healy’s side into 4th in the Barclays WSL2 but it’s cup action next for City who face Spurs at The Robins High Performance Centre on Wednesday night.
