City Women suffered a 6-1 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur at the Robins High Performance Centre in the Subway Players Cup.
Goals from all across the Spurs squad saw them comfortably to three points.
Charlotte Healy had named just one change from the side that beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-2 in the Barclays WSL2 last Sunday as Lauren Brzykcy replaced Fran Bentley..
City Women are back in action this Sunday as they face Wolves again, this time at the SEAH Stadium in the Subway Players Cup.
It was a positive start for City as Lotta Lindström fired the first shot on target of the evening inside the opening five minutes.
Katie Robinson worked the ball excellently in behind the Spurs defence for Lindström whose effort was denied by Selma Panengstuen.
Three minutes later Rio Hardy went in search of an opener but her two close range attempts were also blocked.
Tottenham however, took just 12 minutes to score their first of many, as Shekeira Martinez rifled beyond Brzykcy.
Seven minutes later, the visitors doubled their advantage through Olivia Holdt from close range.
Upon the 23rd minute, City conceded a third courtesy of Martinez, who made no mistake finishing off Spurs' well worked move.
Healy’s side went in search of a response and it was Katie Robinson who went closest, dragging a close range effort wide of the far post.
In the closing stages of the first- half Matilda Gaupset added Tottenham’s fourth with a long range effort before Rio Hardy netted a mere consolation up the other end, smashing home from just three yards out.
Once again, City started the half brightly as they carved out two early chances.
Just two minutes in, City went close from the set-piece, as Brooke Aspin rose highest before heading just wide of the target.
A minute later and Esther Morgan’s delivery was met by Emily Syme in the box but City’s skipper was unable to make the desired contact.
Spurs found a fifth through Amanda Nilden before Martinez completed her hat-trick to add the sixth.
